Thank you for visiting the Kempsville Ruritan Club website. Ruritan is a national organization with patriotic American ideals, dedicated to creating a better country, one community at a time. Ruritan was founded in Holland, Virginia in 1928. Today Ruritan is a rapidly growing organization serving both rural and urban communities. The Ruritan mission of improving communities and building a better America through fellowship, goodwill and community service has touched thousands of lives. The Kempsville Ruritan Club was chartered by Ruritan National in 1949 and has been serving the Kempsville community ever since.
ACTIVITIES WE SUPPORT
EVERY YEAR, WE:
Select deserving High School Seniors to receive $1,000 Scholarships each for College or Technical Training;
Support and raise funds for the Kempsville Pony League, which works with and trains the youth of the community;
Sponsor two Cub Packs, one Boy Scout Troop, and two Venture Crews that meet at Fairfield Elementary School, and a Girl Scout Troop;
Clean a section of Kempsville Road as participants in The City of VA. Beach's "Adopt the Highway Program;"
Support The American Red Cross's CPR training by hosting "The Beat Goes On" in our facilities weekly for classes;
Offer scholarships to deserving High School Students to attend Boy's State and Girl's State assemblies sponsored by The American Legion;
Support the "Union Mission;"
Provide financial support to the "Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad." We also provide "Rudy Ruritan" Teddy Bears for use with small children involved in emergency situations;
Encourage our members individually to provide personal support to the many Volunteer opportunities available such as the Museums, Libraries, and other similar activities.
WE ALSO:
Participated in the 400th anniversary of the "First Landing" at Virginia Beach.
Kempsville Ruritan was chartered in 1949 by Ruritan National, a national service organization.
